MoveIQ helps people who sit at a desk all day move more. It reads your calendar, notices when you've been sitting a long time, and sends a short exercise routine you can do at your desk. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have. MoveIQ is run by Nick Karpovich. Questions: moveiq.help@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your Google account basics: your name and email address, so you can sign in.
- Your calendar events (read-only): titles, start and end times, and locations of events on your main Google Calendar for the current day. We use them to work out when you've been sitting and when you're free. We never change, add or delete anything in your calendar.
- Your intake answers: your goals, activity level, desk hours, areas of pain or old injuries, movements that bother you, work hours and setting, and reminder preferences.
- A safety check result only. We ask about some health conditions and symptoms to decide whether you should check with a doctor first. We save only the result (for example, "cleared by a doctor"), never which condition you have.
- Your routine history: which routines you started, finished or skipped, and any exercise you told us hurt, so we stop suggesting it.
- Event labels you give us: if you tell us what an event is (for example, "Ancients work is sitting"), we save that title and label so we don't ask again.
- Notification details: if you turn on reminders, your device's push address (from Apple or Google) so we can send them, and a record of which reminders were sent.
How we use Google user data
MoveIQ uses read-only access to your Google Calendar for one purpose: to plan and send your movement reminders, and to show you your day in the app. Specifically, we:
- read today's events to find stretches of sitting and free time between events,
- sort each event as sitting, active, break or travel,
- mention the event you just finished in a reminder (for example, "A full hour of econ…").
MoveIQ's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. No person at MoveIQ reads your calendar, except with your permission to fix a problem you report, when needed for security, or when the law requires it.
AI-written messages
Reminder messages are written by Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. To write a message we send Anthropic a short summary: the title of the event you just finished, roughly how long you've been sitting, the body area of the routine, your goals, and whether you work in a shared office. We don't send your name, email or other calendar events. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models.
Who else handles your data
We use a few service providers to run MoveIQ. They only process data to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: stores your account, profile and history (United States).
- Vercel: hosts the app.
- Anthropic: writes reminder messages, as described above.
- Apple and Google push services: deliver notifications to your device.
- Google: sign-in and calendar access.
We don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
How we protect it
- Your Google calendar access tokens are encrypted before they're stored.
- Database rules make sure each person can only read their own data.
- All connections use HTTPS.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. Calendar events are read fresh each time and aren't stored, apart from the event titles you label and the reminder messages that mention them. We also keep a daily record of your desk time: the start and end times of your day's blocks and whether each was sitting, active, a break or travel, without event titles. We use it to keep your reminder plan steady through the day and to fix problems. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, history, saved messages, device addresses and calendar connection, and we ask Google to revoke MoveIQ's access.
Your choices
- See and change your answers: on the Profile page.
- Turn off or pause reminders: on the Profile page.
- Delete your account and data: on the Profile page ("Delete my account"), or by emailing us.
- Remove calendar access: anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

MoveIQ is a fitness product, not a medical service. We don't give medical advice, and we don't store diagnoses. See our Terms for more.
Age
MoveIQ is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app before major changes take effect.
